Don't let what you cannot do interfere with what you can do. There is one quality that one must possess to win, and that is definiteness
of purpose, the knowledge of what one wants, and a burning desire to possess it. Blaming your faults on nature does not change the nature of your faults. The reason why worry kills more people than work is that more people worry
than work. Failure is only the opportunity to begin again; this time more wisely. You cannot do a kindness too soon, for you never know how soon it will be
too late. A dead thing can go with the stream, but only a living thing can go against
it. It is not fair to ask of others what you are not willing to do yourself. An eye for an eye only ends up making the whole world blind. We cannot prosper as a society until we realize that there is as much dignity
in tilling a field as there is in writing poetry. The only job where you start at the top, is digging a hole. It's our choices...that show what we truly are, far more than our abilities. One is never more on trial than in the moment of excessive good fortune. What we do today, right now, will have an accumulated effect on all our
tomorrows. Through perseverance many people win success out of what seemed destined to
be certain failure. Practice as if you are the worst; perform as if you are the best. If you train hard, you'll not only be hard but you'll be hard to beat.
The voyage of discovery is not in seeking new landscapes but in having new
eyes. Life is so much simpler when you tell the truth. Treat each day as an opportunity you have been given to truly make
a difference in the life of each person you meet. Following the path of least resistance is what makes rivers and
men crooked. When I hear somebody sigh, 'Life is Hard,' I am always tempted to
ask, "Compared to what?" It is better to sleep on things beforehand than lie awake about
them afterward. The first quality of courage is the willingness to launch with no
guarantees. The second quality of courage is the ability to endure when
there is no success in sight. Life is like a grammar lesson. You find the past perfect and
the future tense. Leadership...the ability to see what no one else sees, to listen
when others talk and the ability to be optimistic when others are pessimistic.
Let me give so much time to the improvement of myself that I shall have no time
to criticize others. Laughing at our mistakes can lengthen our own life.
Laughing at someone else's can shorten it! Keep away from people who try to belittle your ambitions.
Small people always do that, but the really great make you feel that you can too
can become great. Life is like a mirror; it gives back only what you put into it. |
