News Concerning Alumni |
Shaw High School's Adopt-a-Seat Campaign
Dear Alumni,
Shaw High School is pleased to announce that the renovations to its auditorium
have been completed, including our new auditorium seats. Our new auditorium, the
Kathy Tracy Auditorium, was dedicated during Honor's Night at 6:30 PM on April 24, 2007, and we wish to
all those who "adopted" a seat and the MCSD a warm thank you. It is due to their donations
and their support
that our Adopt-a-Seat Campaign was made possible. Compare the old with the new
and improved!
Shaw

Links to Shaw Alumni
Websites:
If your graduating class has a
webpage, please email the webmaster at
rmcduffie@mcsdga.net with your URL. We would like to have a link to it. Also,
if your class's website is no longer functioning, please let me know. I tried
the Class of 1983 and 1995 recently--neither are working.
Here's a website you should check out:
http://whshaw.alumniclass.com. This a a website where Shaw graduates can stay in touch and plan reunions
easier. This gives one central and private location to stay in touch
without being spread out over many national alumni sites. This link will
be adding a searchable database with contact and reunion information to the
school's current alumni page. The site will be managed for all classes to
use. There are no banners, ads or pop ups on the site, plus a disclaimer
that "this site is run by alumni and has no association with the school or
district."
To access
another alumni website that Jack and Susan Huguley Storey (Shaw's class of '81)
say is a "popular one gaining steam and is free of charge," check out
http://shaw.alumz.com. The class of
1981 is using this site as a primary source of communication; however, it
is open for all alumni and is broken down by year of graduation. There are
literally thousands of schools listed at alumz but in just half a year, Shaw has
risen to the sixth "hottest" site of all the alumz sites.
Class of 1983
Attention Class of '83: a reunion
planning meeting will be held at the Columbus Public Library on January 14,
2008, at 6:30-8:00 PM in the Multimedia Room. You may also contact Kim Nelson, a member of the
class of 1983, at (706) 322-7157 or (706) 888-3724 or email her at krnwdw@bellsouth.net.
Class of 1984
Check out the official reunion site for the Class of 1984 at the above link . The webmaster/contact
person is Tracy Foster Draper. Tracy is still locating classmates but could your
help as the 25th Year Reunion is slated for July 17-19, 2009, (Friday --
Saturday). Please contact
her if you have contact with any classmates. Click
here for a Class of
1984 Reunion Update letter (pdf). Attention:
You can also contact Tracy by email at
shawhigh84@embarqspace.com
or call her at (334) 383-2964. A picture of some of Tracy's family members, more
Shaw graduates, atop Mt. Kilimanjaro, Tanzania, Africa in July 2007, is below,
and Tracy's dad is taking her to Australia this coming spring!

can no longer be seen "from" Schomburg Road and the shopping center
across the street! A Eagle Ridge Elementary School has been built on the piece of land located between Schomburg
Road and Shaw's parking lot. Click here to see photos of
