ATHLETICS
Senior Night
Senior winter sports athletes and their families were honored and introduced between the girls' and boys' Shaw vs Troup County basketball games on February 6. Click on each picture below to see our seniors.

Signings
On February 4, Kyle Griswould and Gage McRae signed their athletic contracts for scholarships. Kyle signed with Duke University in Durham, North Carolina for football, and Gage signed to play baseball with Andrews College in Cuthberth, Georgia. What a great honor to you both!

Wrestling
Wrestling Raiders took Sixth Place as a team at the traditional Area Wrestling Tournament in LaGrange on Saturday, February 7. Placing Fourth Place at the Area Tournament were Justen Lenz, Niquaton Hill and Miles Mauldin. Carlton Williams and Xavier  Hamilton placed Third. Craig Goosby placed Second, and Josh Lyon placed First. John Tate was the alternate at the 171 pound weight class. Eight of the wrestlers qualified for sectionals Friday, February 13 and Saturday, February 14 at Riverwood High School in Atlanta. These wrestlers will represent Shaw the weekend of February 19-21, as they head for the State Championship at Gwinnett Center.

CLUBS/HONORS
DECA
The Shaw DECA students represented their school and their club very well. Out of 14 students competing, 10 of them won individual events by placing either first or second. Shaw DECA Club also won 2nd place for the overall chapter. Congratulations for a job well done!

Mathematics Team
Shaw's Mathematics Team won the Second Place trophy among all schools in our division at the CVCC Mathematics Tournament on February 10. Congratulations go out to the team and also to
Austin Kim who won the trophy for the top individual score from our school. Team members are Jessica Drakeford, Miranda Gardner, Lauren Hughes, Tremeceia Jelks, Cynthia Jones, Austin Kim, Brittany Murray, Jamie Redding, Jakell Santiago, Samantha Special, and Nicole Walden.

Miss Raider Pride

PARTNERS IN EDUCATION (PIE)
Our newest PIE "official" adoption with WTVM occurred on February 25, 2009, in the Shaw Media Center. We welcomed Mr. Lee Brantley, General Manager, and all the WTVM employees to Shaw! Click here to see a video taken by WTVM of the adoption (locate the WTVM adoption video from the selections shown). A few of the pictures taken at the adoption are available below. Our other three partners, TSYS, University of Phoenix, and Mediacom were there to welcome WTVM along with Shaw students, faculty, and staff. All four partners received a framed Shaw shield.
