Media Center

Teachers, Students, and Parents:

Looking for examples in citing electronic resources for an assignment, current/up-to-date information on diseases for a science or health class, historical facts and timelines, help with homework, college or career searches, etc.?  Policies and services provided by your Media Center and media specialists, plus other areas of useful information and resources are also found on your Shaw High School Media Center WebPage.

Find a wealth of information for class assignments or your own personal interest on the "Useful Websites" page or Galileo.    Rather than simply using a search engine or an electronic directory, such as Yahoo! and getting a million or so hits for a topic, locate your subject area listed below on the "Useful Websites" page and find pertinent, relevant sites already selected for their accuracy, authority, currency, and objectivity.  (Any additional websites that you have found useful and can recommend to be included are appreciated.)

| Citing Sources--Electronic and Print | College/Career | Communications | Construction | Criminal Justice | Current Social Issues | Decades | Fine Arts | Foreign Language | General | Geography | Georgia | Grammar/Writing | Health/Diseases | History | Literature/Literary |  Mathematics | Reference | Science | U.S. Government | Parents | Educators |

  • Also, find tips on evaluating a Website you have found to determine whether the information given is to be trusted and really useful or not.
  • Find out if you might be violating copyright law.
  • If your computer or printer is not working correctly, check out the "Troubleshooting Tips" page.
  • Not sure about what search engine to use, check out the NoodleTools  link located on the "Search Engines" page to determine the best one to use for information you need.

We hope that you will use the Shaw High School Media Center WebPage in your research, homework assignments, general information, etc.
