The Columbus Area High School Model United Nations (CAHSMUN) program is a district wide competition during which high school students serve on teams as delegates from United Nations countries and participate in a "simulation" of the Security Council, in Peace Talk negotiations, and in special international "summits." Each year a different agenda topic is the focus for debate, negotiations, and resolutions. Last year and this year Global Terrorism is the focus. Students compete for a variety of individual and team awards, but the most important part of the Model UN experience is that students are given an excellent opportunity to learn and practice such academic and life skills as research, pubic speaking, debate, and team cooperation. Go to the November Announcements' page to see the results and winners of the 2007-2008 Model United Nations competition held at CSU.
