Shaw students Anatasia Collins and Erin Henderson became members of a program this semester called Infusion.  This is the program's first year in existence.  Though the members come from many different denominations, it is sponsored by the Chattahoochee Valley Episcopal Ministry and was designed as a way for high school students in Columbus to learn about servant leadership, self-awareness, discuss problems and solutions in the community, and practice teamwork.  Anatasia and Erin participated in a team building ropes course at Camp Concharty in October.  The group plans on discussing topics such as poverty, racism, using gifts and talents, and marginal life as well as designing and executing community service projects. They were featured in the Columbus Ledger-Enquirer's November 25, 2006, "Faith and Spirit" section.

TEACHER OF THE MONTH
Tasha Smith, Special Education teacher at Shaw, is Shaw's Teacher of the Month for November. Congratulations!

VISITORS
On its 2006 National Tour, the C-Span School Bus made a stop at Shaw High School.  Throughout the day on November 14, Shaw students and teachers were treated to a tour of this "studio on wheels."  The bus which has been visited by both President George W. Bush and former President Bill Clinton, spotlights the mission of C-Span which is to broadcast public affairs.  Fifteen classes, primarily social studies, media studies, and journalism toured the bus, as did numerous faculty and staff members.  The Shaw visit was sponsored by Mediacom of Columbus, one of the school's two Partners in Education.
