Shaw's Partners in Education are four strong companies who
help to support the Raiders in a variety of endeavors. Total System Services
became a partner to Shaw High School in 1991, Mediacom of Columbus came on board
in 1998, and WTVM (Channel 9) joined the partnership with Shaw in 2007.
Shaw High School is fortunate to have such a variety of partnerships. Mediacom has supported the cable television services at Shaw High School for two decades, becoming both a provider and a supporter of distance learning opportunities. From the time that the school introduced videoconferencing and electronic field trips until today with Shaw's magnet program, Global Media Resources, being engaged with Mediacom; this is an exciting partnership. Chandler Anderson, a 2007 graduate of Shaw High School and a student at Georgia Tech, received the first Mediacom of Georgia scholarship. Nancy Grantham is the Mediacom of Columbus liaison in the partnership. A new partner, WTVM, is a well-known component of the Columbus scene. The ABC affiliate brings new opportunities to Shaw High School and its communications magnet. The Raiders look forward to a long and rewarding relationship with WTVM. On January 29, 2008, an adoption ceremony will be held welcoming our fourth and newest partner in education, University of Phoenix. Many of the conveniences that 21st-century students now take for granted--evening classes, flexible scheduling, continuous enrollment, a student-centered environment, practitioner faculty, online classes, online library, ebooks, computer simulations--were pioneered or made acceptable through University of Phoenix's efforts. University of Phoenix has more than 100 degree programs at the associate's, bachelors, masters and doctoral levels in much-desired employment areas, from business and technology to health care and education. Most importantly, they are constantly innovating to help students balance education and life in a rapidly changing world. Shaw High School is grateful to have the partnership of four dynamic and supportive companies. We say "thank you" to TSYS, Mediacom of Columbus, WTVM, and University of Phoenix. Altheia Butler of the Shaw Guidance Department chairs the Shaw PIE committee.
