HONORS
Shaw senior Alice Webb and her horse, NR Slew of Goodbar, scored high at the AOHA (Alabama Open Horsemans Association) State Show in Montgomery, Alabama, Labor Day 2007 weekend.  She was loaded down with plaques and a huge trophy!  Alice placed Second in Jr. English Pleasure (17 and under), Third in Showmanship and Halter, Sixth in Huntseat Pleasure Open, Eighth in Walk Trot (13--17), Eleventh in Western Pleasure (17 and under) and Western Pleasure Open, and Twelfth in Junior Western Pleasure. Wow! 

Congratulations to the following students who are the 2007-2008 Beta Club officers: Brittany Campbell, President; Angela Koenke, Vice President; ..., Secretary, and Samuel Thompson, Treasurer.

Congratulations also go to the following Shaw students who are Junior Class officers this year: Janice Redding, President; Monte Morton, Vice President; Jamie Redding, Secretary; and Chiquetta Powell, Treasurer.

New Spanish Club officers for this year are Tara Hicks, President; Taylor Hogan, Vice President; Kalitta Gary, Second Vice President; Christina Jordan, Secretary; Michaela Waldeck, Treasurer; Jasmine Marshall, Corresponding Secretary; Camille High, Historian; Ashley Obleton, Social Director; Desiree Figueroa, Project Director; Luis Colon, Courtney Marshall, Jamie Redding, Denesha Hudgins, and Franchesca Johnson, Class Representatives.

SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT ON TESTING:
The PSAT will be administered at no charge on Wednesday, October 17, during first block to all ninth and tenth graders. Students will remain in first block until testing is completed. Any junior may sign up to take the test in guidance. The fee is $13.00 and must be paid on or before October 12. On this same day, all seniors will be given the ASVAB in the auditorium.
