The senior football players at Shaw have 47 wins against only 7 losses. Twice they have made it to the semifinals in the Georgia Dome. Three of their four years, the Raiders have won region championships. Most recently, the 2005 Raiders reclaimed the region title by shutting out the defending state champion, LaGrange, 16-0. This year's team finished the season 12-2 and reached the state semifinals in the Georgia dome en route to another successful season. Coach Charles Flowers, who became the district's first athletic director in January 2006, leaves the Raiders with 123 wins, a state championship, and six region titles. The 2005 seniors and the starting players from this year's junior class were introduced to the MCSD board during the December meeting by Chief Student Affairs officer Eddie Obleton, former Shaw principal.
