Welcome from Dr. Arnold
The educational community at Shaw is dedicated to the success of our
students through continual efforts in the refinement and revision of our
policies, procedures, curriculum, and processes. Our faculty works
diligently to provide quality educational opportunities by having consistently high expectations for students and for themselves.
The Shaw commitment to a comprehensive school program is evident in the large
number and wide variety of classes, events, extra-curricular and co-curricular
programs for student involvement. WSHS, the Global Media Resources
magnet program, AP and Honors classes, outstanding fine arts programs, state
championship athletic teams, and the highest GHSGT scores of any comprehensive
high school in MCSD combine to offer students more opportunities for success and
achievement in the classroom and beyond than any other school.
Community involvement at Shaw has for many years been a particular strength of
our school. Business partnerships with TSYS, MediaCom, and the 36th
Engineer Group from Ft. Benning, parent Booster clubs in Band, Orchestra,
Chorus, Football, Soccer, Baseball, Cheerleading and many other activities, our
outstanding Local School Council, a very active PTSA and a newly created Alumni
Association combine to support school events, activities, steering committees,
advertising efforts, mentoring programs, provide financial support, and
contribute in many ways and services to our students and school.
Our
expectations for every student are high, and our individual and collective
achievements continue to set the standard for comprehensive school programs.
Every student is encouraged to participate according to his/her respective
gifts, talents, and interests, and to achieve beyond his/her expectations.
We hope you enjoy your virtual visit to our school.
Sincerely,
Dr. Jim Arnold
